The Club of the Future
5. September 2026

Club of the Future is an immersive 3D-audio event that transforms the club into a space for participation, collective listening, and acoustic ecology. Through spatial audio, sensors, generative composition, and immersive media, the work explores how listening can become a democratic, ecological, and collaborative practice. Visitors are invited to explore, interact, and collectively shape the sonic experience.

The evening unfolds in three acts: an opening of immersive soundscape compositions, interactive sonic environments that evolve through collective presence, and a 3D-audio performer set as the main performance. The night concludes by returning to the soundscape, creating a space for reflection and resonance.

The event will take place at Centralstation Darmstadt, one of the city’s very popular cultural and event venues. Housed in a former power station, Centralstation is known for its diverse programme of concerts, performances, festivals, exhibitions, and interdisciplinary cultural events.

Attendance at Club of the Future is included for all on-site participants of the conference.

3D Audio Workshop
6. September 2026

Conference participants are invited to attend a 3D audio workshop at Centralstation Darmstadt. The workshop reflects the artistic and technical approaches developed for Club of the Future, offering participants insight into the concepts and methods behind the project.

The workshop begins with an introductory lecture by Prof. Sabine Breitsameter, Not a Neutral Concept – Preliminary Thoughts on Immersivity and Critical Thinking. Following the lecture, participants will take part in a practical workshop led by Prof. Sabine Breitsameter and Robin Wiemann, exploring the creative processes, technologies, and collaborative practices involved in developing immersive 3D audio environments.
